Q. 1. Why did the man stare at Bepin Babu in disbelief? उस आदमी ने विपिन बाबू को अविश्वास से क्यों घूरा ?

Ans. The man said that Bepin Babu had been in Ranchi for a week. When Bepin Babu said he hadn’t, he stared at Bepin Babu in disbelief, उस आदमी ने कहा कि बिपिन बाबू एक सप्ताह के लिये रांची गये थे। जब विपिन बाबू ने मना किया तो उसने बिपिन बाबू को अविश्वास के साथ घूरा ।

Ans. Parimal Ghose knew that Bepin Babu had no children. He had lost his wife. His only brother died insane. He disliked hotel food. परिमल घोष जानता था कि बिपिन बाबू के बच्चे नहीं थे। उनकी पत्नी मर चुकी थी । उनका इकलौता भाई पागल होकर मरा था। वह होटल का भोजन नापसन्द करते थे।

Ans. Bepin Babu hesitated to ring up to Mr. Mukherjee because he might conclude that Bepin Babu was going mad. He did not want to fall in a ridiculous situation. He finally decided to phone Dinesh Mukherjee because he was very upset with this situation. श्रीमान् मुखर्जी को फोन करने में बिपिन बाबू को इसलिए संकोच हुआ क्योंकि वह निष्कर्ष निकाल सकता था कि बिपिन बाबू पागल हो रहे हैं। वह किसी हास्यास्पद स्थिति में नहीं पड़ना चाहते थे। अन्ततः उन्होंने इसलिए दिनेश मुखर्जी को फोन करने का निश्चय किया क्योंकि इस स्थिति में वह बहुत व्याकुल हो गये थे ।

Ans. Chunmilal was Bepin Babu’s old friend of school. He was undergoing a rough time. He wanted some help about a job from Bepin Babu चुन्नीलाल बिपिन बाबू का पुराना विद्यालयी मित्र था। वह बुरे समय से गुजर रहा था। वह एक नौकरी के बारे में विपिन बाबू से कुछ मदद चाहता था ।

Ans. Bepin Babu was doing a responsible job in a big firm. He never got anything wrong in the 25 years of his service. He had a reputation of being a tireless and conscientious worker. These sentences support him as a serious and hardworking man. विपिन बाबू एक बड़ी कम्पनी में एक जिम्मेदारी वाले पद पर नौकरी कर थे । उन्होंने अपने 25 वर्ष के सेवाकाल में कभी कुछ गलत नहीं किया था। उनकी छवि एक अथक व जागरूक कार्यकर्ता की थी । ये वाक्य उन्हें गंभीर और परिश्रमी व्यक्ति बताने का समर्थन करते हैं ।

Ans. Bepin Babu changed his mind because he thought Chunilal could tell him something about Ranchi trip. This meeting made him more worried and miserable. Chunilal said that it was he who had done Railway booking for his Ranchi trip. बिपिन बाबू ने अपना मन बदल दिया क्योंकि उन्हें लगा कि चुन्नीलाल रांची यात्रा के बारे में कुछ बता सकता था । इस मुलाकात ने बिपिन बाबू को और अधिक चिन्तित व दुःखी कर दिया । चुन्नीलाल ने कहा कि उसी ने उनकी रांची यात्रा हेतु रेलवे टिकिट बनवाये थे ।

Q.3. Bepin Babu lost consciousness at Hudroo Falls. What do you think was the reason for this? बिपिन बाबू हुडरू प्रताप पर बेहोश हो गये । तुम इसका क्या कारण सोचते हो ?

Ans. On reaching Hudroo falls Bepin Babu did not find anything which could remind him that he had visited this place earlier also. He thought he had no hope left. For reganing his memory. He would end up in an asylum. It led him to a serious stress. So he lost his consciousness there. While walking he might have fallen down also. हुडरू प्रपात पहुँचने पर बिपिन बाबू को ऐसा कुछ नहीं मिला जो उन्हें याद दिला सके कि पूर्व में भी वह उस स्थान का भ्रमण कर चुके थे । उन्हें लगा कि अब उनकी – याददाश्त वापिस आने की कोई उम्मीद नहीं बची थी । – जल्दी ही वह सब कुछ खो देंगे। वह अपना शेष जीवन किसी पागलखाने में बितायेंगे । इन बातों से उन्हें गंभीर तनाव हो गया । इसलिये वे वहाँ बेहोश हो गये । वहाँ घूमते समय वे नीचे गिर गये होंगे ।

Q. 4. How do you think Bepin Babu reacted when he found out Chunilal had tricked him? तुम्हारे विचार से बिपिन बाबू ने क्या प्रतिक्रिया की होगी जब उन्हें पता लगा कि चुन्नीलाल ने उनके साथ चाल खेली थी ?

Ans. On knowing that he was tricked by Chunilal, Bepin Babu must have laughed at his folly. He must also have regretted for neglecting a friend of him. यह जानकर कि चुन्नीलाल ने उनके साथ चाल खेली थी, बिपिन बाबू अपनी मूर्खता पर हँसे होंगे। साथ ही उन्हें अपने एक मित्र की उपेक्षा करने के कारण पछतावा भी हुआ होगा ।
